Our Story

How we met

We met back in September of 2001. The first night Josh saw Lauren walking by he began to hit on her…you could say he was not very shy. Ha! She played hard to get and just walked past him giggling. She liked him right away; he was really funny and smooth. Lauren saw him a couple weeks later at a friend’s house and he had fallen asleep on their porch after his first day work with a new company. So she snuck outside quietly and thought it would be fun to play a trick on him…she was only 16, keep in mind. She tied his work shoe laces together, so when he woke up he would have a little surprise trying to stand up…but he awoke as she was in the middle of tying his laces.Ahh Lauren was so embarrassed, because she didn’t even really know him! He just laughed and started talking with her. Next thing you know he asked her if she wanted to hang out the following weekend, he was having friends over while his parents were out of town. And from that night on you could say they were very much in love with each other!

Dating

We soon found out that we had lots of growing up to do and had a joyous ride of a relationship for 10 years… phew! In the midst of our dating years we conceived a beautiful baby boy, Braeden Joshua on March, 3rd 2008. He was the most beautiful baby we had ever laid our eyes on, and a whole chamber of our hearts opened up for this little sweet blessing. What joy our baby boy has brought us!

Reunion

In November of 2010 we decided to try and be friends and to start having dinners together as a family and to do other family activities together. We wanted to make sure it was in God’s will and timing before making any other decisions. The friendship/family time lasted until January when we both couldn’t take the sparks flying around anymore...while having much peace and confirmation about our family and relationship having restoration finally!! We started dating after two long years of being separated. Praise Him!

Proposal

In February 2011 he popped the question with one of the most romantic ideas ever. Drum roll please! Can I just say- how amazed I am by my prince?!! When I walked into his house Valentine’s Day morning the whole house was filled with candles, roses, and an I love you balloon. With romantic music in the background playing! That was just the beginning... to get in the same car. Then we took a walk on a nature trail, sharing laughs and sweet kisses! After that we packed a picnic with assorted cheeses, fruit, chocolates, and wine....and he brought me to a beautiful garden! We toasted and snacked on our picnic snacks. We went for a walk through the garden where we then sat on a little bench to relax and he presented my Valentine's present......I opened an engraved, detailed, gorgeous box that said "Happy Valentine's Day...Lauren & Josh". And inside there was a heart locket necklace, and when I turned it over, I saw the engraved writing that said "Will you marry me?"!!!!!!!!!!!! I was in total shock and excitement! As my chin quivered and tears in my eyes, he got down on his knee and proposed. And I said, YES! This gorgeous ring is EXACTLY what I wanted; it’s a ring I thought would never be on my finger though...ha! He did such an amazing job!!!!! Then we went to dinner at Ruth's Chris to end our perfect day! Is that breathtaking or what?!
